Duration: 9.30am – 4.30pm (or to suit your ship schedule)
Our wine tour will depart from the isite in Picton. Shuttle buses are provided free from the quay to the isite (a distance of 2 kms from the large ship quay) and departure times are worked around the times that ships dock and passengers are allowed to disembark. You will be returned to the Shuttle terminus a minimum of 90 minutes before the last shuttles leave for the ship.
Default departure time is 9.30am but this will vary for later arriving ships. You will be advised of your tour departure time a few weeks before the date.
Don’t worry, we will make sure you’re back on time. It’s our absolute priority to return you to Picton for your shuttle connection in time for your scheduled ship departure.
Slow down and savour the best of New Zealand wine on this relaxed group tour through Marlborough, paired with a curated lunch experience at Fidelio Café & Wine Bar in central Blenheim.
Your day begins in the heart of Marlborough with hosted visits to two hand-picked tasting rooms, where you’ll sample a range of the region’s acclaimed wines — from bright, zesty Sauvignon Blancs to elegant Pinot Noirs. Along the way, your guide will share insights into Marlborough’s wine history, vineyards, and winemaking styles.
At midday, settle in at Fidelio, where a seasonal, locally inspired menu is designed to showcase wines from across the South Island. A sample pairing might begin with Marlborough green mussel chowder with Minghetti’s sourdough, matched to Greystone Sauvignon Blanc and Zephyr Organic Sauvignon Blanc; move into a rich Cranky Goat cheese & mushroom risotto, paired with Greystone Chardonnay and Blank Canvas Reed Vineyard Chardonnay; and finish with Marlborough sea salt chocolate gâteau, served alongside Prophet’s Rock Home Vineyard Pinot Noir and The Marlborist Pinot Noir. Each dish is crafted to highlight the flavours and textures of its wine pairing.
Leading your tour is Bruce Thomas, a lifelong vigneron and co-founder of Greystone Wines, one of New Zealand’s most awarded wineries. With hands-on experience in both the vineyard and cellar, Bruce brings real-world insight, deep knowledge, and plenty of stories from his time building Greystone alongside his brother, Peter Thomas. Bruce will personally host the lunch tasting, guiding you through the wines and the regional differences they represent.
To cap off the day, enjoy a sweet final stop at Makana Confections, a local favourite known for handcrafted chocolates, before returning to your ship.
